Polyvinyl acetate PVAc, commonly called wood glue, white glue, carpentry glue, school glue, or PVA glue, is an aliphatic synthetic rubber polymer with the formula (C4H6O2)n and belongs to the family of polyvinyl esters with the general formula [RCOOCHCH2]. This polymer is a type of thermoplastic that is used as a strong adhesive for porous materials, especially for wood, paper and fabric. PVAc homopolymer can be used as a base resin in paint and other coatings, as an adhesive in nonwovens, glass fibers, filter paper, and spin-finish oils & textile softeners.
